Reflection:
The readings for today reflect a theme of impending doom and how we should appropriately respond. Is it with fear? No. Whether the threat is invading foreign powers, local enemies, the judgement of the world or the plotting foes of Jesus and their turncoat ally, Judas, we are not to panic, because we are not alone.
Fear is a natural response to threat but it is only one of our physiological resources for survival. Fear should prompt action, and this is where our faith comes in, guiding us into trusting action and away from paralysis or panic. Where we recognise how much we have (gratitude), and step forward trusting God despite our fears (adventure), we find a way through.
