Midweek communion with Waverley Singers

This year we’ve started having a (monthly) midweek service of Holy Communion in addition to the service on Sunday. It’s been well appreciated so far, especially by people who can’t make it to church by 9:30 on a Sunday morning. The service is in the early afternoon, and the afternoon tea following it is also thoroughly enjoyed!

At today’s service, we were lucky enough to have the Waverley Singers as our guests and they sang for their supper, sharing with us “A quiet moment” and “Simple gifts.”

Thinking of simple gifts prompted some great reflections from everyone present when we explored John 3:16 as it speaks about love and gift.

It was easy today to be aware that it’s been a gift to us to have the Waverley Singers associated with St Luke’s as their rehearsal venue for many years, and a great gift to be so close to their singing in the intimate setting of the midweek service.

Tuesday services of Holy Communion for the rest of 2016 are at 1:30pm on 27 October, 24 November and 22 December.
